Meet the Founders

My military journey commenced at the age of 18 when I enlisted in the Army National Guard as a 13B, Cannon Crew Member. Although I cherished my time in the Guard, a desire for greater challenges prompted me to transition into the Regular Army after three years of service. Over the following 20 years, I dedicated myself to various roles within the military, shaping my trajectory from a 13B to a 35M, Human Intelligence Collector.
My military ventures took me to diverse locations, each providing unique experiences. I served at Fort Hood, TX, with the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Sill, OK, with the 75th Field Artillery Brigade & 95th Adjutant General Brigade (BCT), Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion, Midland, MI, Combat Support Coordination Team #3, Yongin, South Korea, Joint Base Lewis/McChord with the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, and Joint Base San Antonio with the 201st Military Intelligence Battalion.
In my roles as a Field Artilleryman, I refined my skills as a howitzer Gunner and Section Chief, assumed responsibilities as a Recruiter and Operations Sergeant, and later transitioned into the realm of Intelligence, serving as a Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, and Detachment Sergeant.
I underwent two deployments to Iraq, each presenting unique challenges. During my initial deployment in OIF 1 (2003-2004), I served as a howitzer Gunner, providing direct support to 1/10 CAV, 4th Infantry Division, primarily stationed in the Dialla province near the Iranian border. In my second deployment at the conclusion of OIF 2009-2010, I held the role of a Platoon Sergeant based in Basrah, providing essential general support to United States Division-South (USD-S).
The experiences and sights I encountered in Iraq deeply instilled in me a profound sense of gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy in the United States. These encounters served as a stark reminder of the significance of the liberties we hold dear.
Among my myriad assignments, the roles of Recruiter and Drill Sergeant stand out as the most demanding yet fulfilling. These positions pushed me out of my comfort zone, fostering personal growth in ways I hadn’t anticipated. When my military career concluded, I found myself adrift without the familiar structure. Fortunately, my introduction to beekeeping through a Veterans’ group provided me with purpose and a sense of community. Over the past five years, I have become an experienced beekeeper, earning Apprentice and Journeyman Beekeeping Certifications from the University of Montana.
At one point, I managed over 350 hives, orchestrating their migration to and from California for almond pollination and collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (UDA) for ELAP protection. I’ve had the privilege of teaching basic and advanced beekeeping to countless enthusiasts. While I’ve scaled back my operations, maintaining only a few hives now, this change has allowed me to delve deeper into the nuances of beekeeping. Although I may have fewer resources to dedicate to each hive, I’ve learned to focus my attention more keenly, resulting in better hive management.
Whether you are a customer or a fellow beekeeper, I eagerly look forward to collaborating with you. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each individual who has been a part of my journey, both in the military and in the realm of beekeeping. Your support has been invaluable, shaping the person I am today.

My journey in service to my country began at the young age of 17 when I joined the California National Guard in 1987. Starting my journey as a junior in high school by going to basic training at ft Leonardwood Mo, and then returning for my senior year at Rancho Cotati High School. This early commitment showcased my sense of duty and a profound desire to contribute to the defense of our country. Little did I know that this initial step would mark the beginning of a lifelong dedication to my country and the Army.
As I transitioned from the California National Guard to the active Army in 1992, my passion for being in the Army and evolving into a leader became a driving force in my life. Embracing the challenges and responsibilities that came with my chosen path, I cultivated a love for the values of service, discipline, and teamwork.
Throughout the years, My enthusiasm for leadership continued to grow, shaping my career and influencing those around him. My journey from a young recruit in the California National Guard to a seasoned leader in the U.S. Army is a testament to my commitment, resilience, and the profound impact that military service had on my life. My story is not just one of duty and sacrifice; it is also a narrative of a passionate individual who found fulfillment and purpose in the pursuit of defending my nation and leading others in the pursuit of a common goal.
Looking beyond my military career, I envision a future filled with purpose and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of my fellow veterans. One of my heartfelt aspirations is to support veteran beekeepers across the country.
Inspired by a newfound passion for beekeeping, sustainable practices, and environmental stewardship, I aim to channel my leadership skills and dedication toward fostering a community of veteran beekeepers. Recognizing the therapeutic and rewarding nature of beekeeping, I believe in providing my fellow veterans with opportunities for meaningful and fulfilling post-service endeavors.
My future goals include establishing programs and initiatives that empower veterans to engage in beekeeping, promoting not only a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle but also offering a unique form of therapy and connection with nature. Through mentorship, education, and resource support, I aim to create a network of veteran beekeepers who can find solace, purpose, and camaraderie in this fulfilling pursuit.
By combining my military leadership experience with a passion for beekeeping, and environmental sustainability, I aspire to contribute to the well-being of my fellow veterans while making a positive impact on the environment. I have a deep commitment to service, both to my country and to the well-being of those who have served alongside me.
